Employee Self Service (ESS) is an online tool that enables employees to manage and modify their health benefits, personal information (such as name, address, emergency contact info and beneficiaries), tax status and copies of W-2 and 1095C forms at work or from home. Furthermore, DOE Central and Administrative employees can add and/or update professional skills credentials in ESS NYC caps​

To log into ESS, you'll need your Employee Management Payroll Link ID and Password (EMPL ID is your 7 digit Employee ID Number listed as "Reference Number" on your pay stub). Your initial default password includes last two digits of SSN plus underscore (_), first three letters of your birth month in upper case font (must begin with "A") (and optional leading zero for birthday date and year - with this being case sensitive!).

New York City provides multiple websites that are only available inside its network: CityShare can only be accessed from within it and the Department of Education employees' e-Services portal contains various general information and forms such as paystubs and W-2 forms. If you are new or current Department of Education employee, make sure to enroll for direct deposit using e-Services!

Direct deposit is the fastest and simplest way to receive your paycheck, so enroll in e-Services via this link above and follow its instructions. For assistance call 718-447-3311. You may be required to provide your EMPL ID and password; these differ from those used when accessing DOE email accounts.
